The experience acquired in the work for the Laboratory for Landscape and Cultural Heritage (CultLab) of the University of Florence, led to the establishment of the company called HORIZONS. The aim is to transmit the acquired knowledge to farms, foundations and government agencies. The company HORIZONS has been recognized as a spinoff of the University of Florence.
HORIZONS provides multiple services in the field of landscape:
- Landscape restoration: restoring the territory according to the historical characteristicsa and the cultural identity to increase the tourist offer and the added value of traditional products.
- Projects for the protection, restoration and environmental valorisation: design and implementation of land management plans aimed at public or private authorities.
- Technical support: preparation of the application forms for including landscapes into the Italian National Register of Rural Landscapes of Historical Interest, into the UNESCO World Heritage List and into the FAO GIAHS (Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems) programme.
