The research carried out during November 2011 had the purpose to study the relationship between terraces and hydrogeological risk in the area of the Cinque Terre, where an environmental disaster occurred the 25 October 2011 as a result of heavy rainfall which in about 6 hours, have poured into the territory of the provinces of La Spezia and Massa Carrara ,542 mm of rain, creating landslides and causing damages to persons and buildings. The analysis of the collected data, showed a clear and statistically significant relationship between crop abandonment and landslides.
